Miguel Buenrostro (b. 1984, Tijuana) is an artist and filmmaker based between Mexico and Berlin. His work explores the intersections of art and territory, with a focus on aural dimensions within a situated audiovisual practice. Working across cinema and sonic interventions in public space, Buenrostro investigates the migratory condition of sound, the acoustic life of landscapes, and the border as a space of knowledge production. Through his ongoing project Cosmoaudiciones, he engages with historical sound archives as spaces of critical listening, seeking to re-socialize and re-circulate music from ethnographic collections. He has presented work at transmediale (Berlin), the Singapore Biennial, the Thailand Biennial, the MexiCali Biennial, Museo Casa del Lago (CDMX), Museo Experimental del Eco (CDMX), Konsthall C (Stockholm), and the Musée National de la RD Congo. His films have been featured in international film festivals, exhibitions, and documentary showcases.
